Skyloft Morgans came into existance in 1964 when Carole Daugherty-Thoms purchased her first Morgan Pandora Mildann. Pandora was by Major Mildann and out of Nancita Mildann. Pandy became the very first Skyloft horse, as well as their foundation broodmare. Pandy's foals consistently won their weanling halter classes, and became Futurity champions. Some of her offspring include Skyloft Posiedon (pictured above winning his NY Futurity class), Brandy Ann's Lace, Skyloft Aquarius, Skyloft Marnie, Skyloft Desiree and Skyloft Nathan Allen. Morgans
In 1974, Carole purchased her foundation stallion, Saddleback Sonalect from Fred and Jeanne Herrick. He was by Applevale Donalect and out of Windcrest Nancy C. At one year Sonalect was named Grand Champion Halter Horse for all breeds at the Bath, NY horse show. At age three he was placed with Joe and Mary Ann Virgo of Shadowood Morgans and went on to many park saddle and halter wins. Upon returning to Skyloft he sired many outstanding foals. All of his offspring possesed his exceptional temperment, versitilty and correctness. Some of his foals include Skyloft Cassanova, Joli Ms. Jubilee, Skyloft Starborne, Skyloft Squire, Cygnet's Delite, Skyloft Cameo, and Skyloft Pappilon.
Today, Skyloft Morgans is owned and managed by the second generation, Jennifer Hartwell. Carole's daughter Jennifer inherited a love of Morgans and continuing the tradition of breeding for beauty, trainability, and solid genetics and conformation. In 2005 Jennifer moved from Scottsville, NY to Gorham, Maine. In 2006 she married Ben Hartwell, and now continues the Skyloft prefix in New England.
Skyloft Morgans have come a long way with a rich history of beautiful Morgan Horses. To see some of the horses from the Skyloft breeding program, look below.
